Luminarias: Let There Be Light
Available for booking
Use malleable light metal to create luminarias with traditional and unconventional tools and techniques. Use wire, found objects, trinkets and treasures to embellish your creations. At the close of our workshop, we will gather, light our luminarias and reflect on the process.

Brief Bio
Contemporary Foraging Basket Available for booking
In the beginning….(now, there’s an opening….) We will focus on structure and technique to create our unconventional versions of this traditional basket. Workshop participants are then free to explore embellishment, texture and color.
We will work with accessible materials: cardboard, recycled metals, beads, leather, linen, paint and found objects.

Mini-Paper Book Mobiles Available for booking
In this fun and engaging class, we will cut, carve and sculpt hand-sewn signatures to create original paper mobile installations. Combine texture, composition, text and mark making with beads, metal, wire, bamboo and found treasures to play with light, shadow, air and movement.

A Multi-Media arts camp for ages 7 - 12On this seafaring adventure we create shadow puppets, treasure maps,
costumes, props, and mixed-media sculpture. We'll end the week with a presentation for family and friends.

The projects support literacy, math and science studies.
We team teach to provide the richest experience for students and the community. In addition, we will include pre-residency trainings for staff and classroom volunteers. This approach ensures a good foundation to build relationships in this shared arts adventure!
Our comprehensive residency promotes long-lasting benefits for all participants: Teachers, volunteers and students will gain experience with new tools to investigate the core curriculum, themselves and the world through the arts. Different learning styles are accommodated as we engage imagine and create.
Active participation in the arts increases our understanding of ourselves, the world and our place in it.

SHADOW PUPPET ADVENTURE:
All ages will enjoy working with a variety of tools and unconventional materials to build shadow puppets. Play with paper, wire and found objects to create characters and settings; experiment with scale, music and sound effects to enrich the puppet parade.

Transform light malleable metals embellished with found objects by using both traditional and unconventional tools and techniques. Explore form, function, texture, light and shadow while adding fun decorative touches. A sensitive, sculptural approach will guide you in making a tin frame that will beautifully house the art inside.
